One-time fees

  • entrance exam fee, usually €50–150;
  • sworn translations and legalization of documents;
  • health insurance: EHIC and an additional policy;
  • a deposit for the dorm or apartment;
  • lab coats, footwear, and textbooks for the first year.

How much in total per year

With tuition of €12,000 and a modest living budget of around €700 a month for ten months, a year of study costs about €19,000. An apartment instead of a dorm and frequent trips home add another two or three thousand euros.

How to cut costs

  • First year in a dorm, then an apartment with friends.
  • Bus instead of plane: the trip from Kraków to Košice takes a few hours.
  • Textbooks from older students.
  • Tuition in installments instead of one large payment.
