Where you can study
English-taught programs are offered by, among others, the veterinary universities in Košice, Brno, and Budapest, as well as veterinary faculties in Lithuania and Latvia. There are fewer places than in medicine, so it’s worth applying early.
Admission
There’s usually an exam in biology and chemistry, similar to the one for medicine, and sometimes an interview as well. Some universities admit applicants based on their school-leaving exam results. See how to prepare for the exam.
Costs
Tuition for veterinary medicine is usually €8,000 to €12,000 a year. Living costs are the same as for medical students, plus work clothing and travel to internships.
Internships and specializations
- internships at small-animal clinics;
- internships on farms and at food processing plants;
- classes on horses and exotic animals at selected universities.
After graduation, you can work in Poland once you meet the requirements of the veterinary chamber.
